Former West Yorkshire Police Assistant Chief Constable Mark Gilmore was today named as the new Chief Constable for the Force.
The announcement was made by West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Mark Burns-Williamson after he headed a panel which interviewed five candidates.
The appointment will be ratified by the Police and Crime Panel next week.
Mr Gilmore, who has extensive police service in Northern Ireland, has been Deputy Chief Constable at Northumbria for the last 18 months. Before that he was West Yorkshire’s Assistant Chief Constable for two years.
Mr Mark Burns-Williamson said: “Many of us have worked with Mark in the past and know him to be extremely enthusiastic and committed to policing and crime prevention in the county.”
