Firefighters had to cut free a driver and passenger after the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in the early hours of this morning.
Their Vauxhall Corsa collided with a tree close to Dawson’s Corner on the Stanningley by-pass in Pudsey at 1am today causing roads around it to be shut for up to half an hour.
Both men were taken to Leeds General Infirmary with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Fire crews from Bradford, Stanningley and Lees were involved in the rescue, involving just the one vehicle.
Bradford watch commander Jarrod Stoney said the passenger was released within about ten minutes but the driver took about an hour.
“It was a difficult scenario because of the way the car was folded into the tree. His leg was in a bad way,” he said.
