Heavy snow caused disruption, but no serious accidents on West Yorkshire roads, according to early morning police reports today.

Major routes were clear for commuters and a spokesman said: “Although there was significant snowfall, there were no serious accidents recorded across the force area although a number of vehicles were abandonned due to the snow.”

Top marks to the gritter crews. Went to bed at 11 and roads were shot, got up at 6 and clear as a bell. They often get slagged off on here but can't fault them so far this winter

The Guys have done a sterling Job. I believe they've had to utilise the chaps who normally empty our bins ..Their efforts are appreciated. As for the side roads its time we all mustered together and did what we used to do in the past and clear them ourselves. And a round of applause to the young uns that have cleared the paths for the elderly.

Good post mate, agree with your comment about residents clearing the side roads but unfortunatley the last couple of times I've done this "SOME" of my neighbors just use the area I cleared as a turning point, sorry to say I have only cleared my drive this year..!!

I go out into the street to clear the snow and I wonder where to put it. The drivers dig their cars out and pile the snow on the pavements so walkers can't use them. If I clear the pavement I put the snow in between the parked cars so they can't get out. The drivers come back and throw the snow back on the pavement. It's a nightmare so I just go back indoors and make a cup of tea and sit by the fire. Much less hassle.

It might help if neighbours actually talked to each other and worked out how to deal with the problem between themselves.
I guess chatting to the neighbours has become a thing of the past for a lot of people!

I helped a young guy to clear the road on our street and I'm no spring chicken, every one should pitch in and the job isn't half as bad. My good deed paid off as I was rescued Friday night after abandoning my car near Raggle. Thank you to the wonderful man and his family who picked me up. The bad weather does bring out the good in people.
