Ilkley Round Table has donated a second potentially life-saving defibrillator to a much-used community venue in the town.
The Round Table gave a £1,000 defibrillator to the Clarke Foley Centre on Cunliffe Road in October – and it was put into urgent action just a day later to revive a man who collapsed at a wedding celebration.
Now the organisation, which raised tens of thousands of pounds for local good causes every year, has donated a defibrillator to Christchurch, The Grove.
Richard Bradley, vice-chairman of Ilkley Round Table, said: “We recognise the importance of having defibrillators in the town. As I said last time, we always hope it’s just a pretty box that stays on the wall and never needs to be used.”
Mr Bradley said he was impressed by the number of local people who meet at Christchurch for community activities.
