Four Bradford men have been arrested after a crash left a woman, 25, dead and a man and two young children badly injured today.
The smash, which involved a Seat Leon and a Vauxhall Astra, happened in Boothtown Road, Halifax, at 3.30pm.
The Halifax woman, aged 25, who had been a front seat passenger in the Astra, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man, 26, a seven-year-old girl, and a boy, four, who were also in the vehicle, suffered what police described as serious injuries and were taken to hospital.
The four Bradford men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 27, were travelling in the Seat towards Halifax. They have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Fire crews from Brighouse, Cleckheaton and Illingworth stations assisted Halifax firefighters at the scene.
Geoff Morritt, crew commander at Halifax fire station, said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
The road was closed for several hours as police accident investigators examine the scene.
Police are also anxious to trace a blue X-registered Mercedes-Benz which was seen driving with the Seat before the crash and have urged witnesses to contact 101.
