The Alzheimer’s Society Bradford has offered advice to anyone who has a family member with dementia.
It is estimated 6,000 people in Bradford area have dementia, with 2,880 of those undiagnosed.
The society said that holidays can be a difficult time for families, who could notice signs of the condition for the first time.
The society advises people who do notice symptoms of memory loss or confusion in relatives to encourage them to get in touch with a doctor.
Paul Smithson, service support manager at the society, said an estimated 48 per cent of people with dementia in Bradford were undiagnosed, but if identified there were steps that could be taken to improve their day-to-day lives.
The society says people feel awkward dealing with the condition, and advises them how to bring more normalcy to their lives by including them in familiar games, outings or trips.
