A Yeadon councillor has welcomed road improvements for the town in the new year but is warning residents it could cause disruptions to their journeys.

Yeadon High Street will be closed on four consecutive Sundays between its junctions with Harper Lane and Silver Lane so it can be resurfaced.

The closure will be in effect on January 6, 13, 20 and 27. Vehicles will be diverted along Harper Lane, Well Hill, Haworth Lane and Silver Lane.

Otley and Yeadon councillor Ryk Downes said: “It took a great deal of persistence from local councillors to get the council to agree to redo the road and we have long been pressing for them to get on with it, so it is welcome news it is finally happening.

"The work will cause some inconvenience but the resurfacing has been needed for a while now so.”
