A Bradford free school, which had its funding cut just before it was due to open, has chalked up a major victory.

One In A Million Free School has now bought its school building from its partners at Bradford City football club.

The building, formerly the Bantams Business Centre, which housed the Bradford City shop and a number of businesses, was bought by the free school on Wednesday.

Jez Stockill, Principal Designate, said: “The 12th of the 12th of the 12th will go down as one of the most memorable days in the history of One In A Million.

“Level 0 in our school will be handed over to us next Monday and the builders can now complete the work on levels 1 and 2.”

“This is a big day for One In A Million as we continue to serve the young people of Bradford and we know they will benefit from the amazing facilities and the adults who will work with them.”

In August, the Telegraph & Argus reported how concerns about poor pupil recruitment and the school's viability led to the Department for Education deferring its funding agreement for 12 months and a scramble to find school places for pupils who had already signed up.
