Women in Yorkshire play a vital role in encouraging their families to see a GP, according to the results of a new survey published today by Cancer Research UK and Tesco.

The results reveal that Yorkshire folk like to chat about their health concerns with a friend or relative first, with more than a third saying this is what led them to make an appointment with their GP.

Of these, 78 per cent of men in the region are most likely to rely on their other halves to give them a push to see a doctor, compared to 59 per cent for women.

The poll of more than 4,200 people, conducted by YouGov, marks the launch of a new online video from Cancer Research UK and Tesco highlighting the importance of talking to a GP about any unusual or persistent changes to your body, as well as friends and family.
