Woman injured in fall from M62 bridge

M62 traffic was again brought to a halt after a woman fell onto the westbound carriageway from a bridge between junctions 26 and 27.

The incident happened at 10.20am today when the woman tumbled onto the shielded lane where roadworks are taking place.

The motorway was closed for over an hour to allow the air ambulance to land and fly the seriously-injured woman for treatment at Leeds General Infirmary.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the road remained closed until 11.45am.
