Schoolgirl best friends who both have diabetes have held a dinner dance to help research into the condition.
Gracie Spandler and Briony Farr, both 12, were raising funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, with which they are both Youth Ambassadors.
Gracie, of Rawdon, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was ten. Briony, her best friend since the age of three, has supported her.
Uncannily, just over a year later, Briony, of Esholt, also developed the life-threatening condition.
Gracie’s mum Briony said: “The girls have really pulled together since their diagnosis as it was difficult for everyone to adjust to life with type 1 diabetes – it’s ironic that they both have it.”
