A Keighley councillor says the town’s MP has lost support from the Muslim community over his comments in the Commons earlier this week.
In a Parliamentary debate on Tuesday, Kris Hopkins claimed problematic aspects of Islamic culture had led to a situation where gangs of Muslim men were “going round and raping white kids.”
Abid Hussain, also senior vice-president of the Keighley Muslim Association, said: “We are totally condemning the statements he made. We live in a multicultural society and he has just blamed the Muslims.”
