Liam Dunne of Otley AC raced to victory in the Burley Moor Summer Festival fell race, finishing nearly a minute faster than his nearest competitor.

Dunne completed the event in a fantastic time of 47min 33sec after holding off a strong finish by Ilkley Harriers’ Martin Archer, who came home in 48.29.

The Harriers showcased a strong field and had a quartet of top-ten finishers, with Richard Joel, Will Buckton, Bradley Chapman and Dick Waddington claiming fifth, seventh, eighth and tenth positions respectively.

Meanwhile, Spenborough hosted the tenth Yorkshire Veterans’ Athletic Association Grand Prix, with Colin Walker of Pudsey & Bramley finishing second – just 16 seconds behind Holmfirth’s David Watson, who completed the race in 28.06.

Among the women, Ilkley’s Alison Eagle won the over-50s race after taking fourth place overall in 37.35. This was one place ahead of Bingley’s Marisol Carrera, who finished in 37.45.

The runners gained revenge on their two-wheeled friends in the Cyclists v Harriers race in Bingley.

Thick mud on the 6.5-mile course, stretching from the Fisherman’s Inn up to Baildon Moor and back, gave the runners an advantage.

But even so, Bingley cyclo-cross ace Rob Jebb once again secured overall victory with a time of 33.53.

Despite the Hope Factory Racing ace’s win, his cyclist team-mates were thin on the ground behind him.

Eight of the top ten finishers were runners – including Ilkley AC’s Tom Adams in second, who completed the race in 34.02, and Ian Holmes of Bingley Harriers, who finished third in 35.50.

Fifth place belonged to Bingley’s Martin Peace in 38.19, while team-mates James Senior, Robin Lawrence and Ged Collins finished eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.

In the Dalby Dash 10K trail race, Liz Crossland of Keighley & Craven AC finished fourth in the women’s over-40s race with a time of 44.58.

Her time also gained 14th in the women’s section and 107th in the event overall, which was won by Scarborough AC’s James Kraft with a time of 32.41.
