The Conservatives held on to the Bradford Council by-election in Wharfedale ward tonight, with candidate Jackie Whiteley being elected with 1,353 votes, a majority of  868 ahead of her nearest rival David Green (Labour) who polled 485. Janet Souyave (Green) polled 320, Paul Tredwell (Lib Dem) polled 222, and Samuel Fletcher (UKIP) polled 124. 

Jackie Whiteley said: " I'm delighted. It has been a very fair contest and I would like to thank all my fellow candidates. I have been overwhelmed with the support I have received."

Turnout for the election was 27.52%.
