Latest from the Highways Agency: "On the M62 westbound between junctions J30 and J27, there are currently delays of 30 mins due to heavy traffic . Normal traffic conditions expected from 12:45 pm"

Here's the latest update from reporter Claire Armstrong:

The M62 is now fully reopen after today’s accident and the Highways Agency has said traffic is getting back to normal.

The motorway was plunged into chaos this morning after a crash on the eastbound carriageway between junction 26 (Chain Bar) and junction 27 (Gildersome).

The eastbound carriageway was fully closed and there were also serious delays westbound and on local roads.

The accident, at 5.42am, involved two vans and a motorbike.

One person has been taken to hospital with injuries which have been described as serious but not life-threatening.

Latest info from our travel and transport section:

Severe delays due to earlier accident, two vans and a motorbike involved on M62 Eastbound from J26 M606 / A58 (Chain Bar) to J27 M621 / A650 / A62 (Gildersome), congestion on M62 to J23 A640 / A643 (Huddersfield). All lanes have been re-opened. The road had been closed since around 05:45 and re-opened at 10:05, but severe delays on all routes towards Leeds from the west of the county remain. There are also severe Westbound delays.

According to our latest information, travel time for journeys along the M62 is subject to 150 minute delays - that's a MASSIVE two-and-a-half hours, for anyone needing to contact work or family...

According to latest information received by our reporter Chris Tate, one lane of the eastbound carriageway has now been re-opened but obviously there's still massive congestion.

Remember, it's little more than a week since our front-page splash headlined "Miles and miles of misery in M62 roadworks chaos costing millions".

We said: "The true scale of problems caused by major roadworks on the M62 can be revealed by the Telegraph & Argus today.

"Since work to construct a managed motorway began a little more than a year ago, highways officials have been forced to remove more than 1,500 broken-down vehicles and deal with more than 100 crashes in the short stretch between junction 25 at Brighouse and junction 27 at Gildersome – a section that includes the M606 turn-off at junction 26 Chain Bar.

"The £150 million Highways Agency scheme, due for completion before 2014, will involve opening up the hard shoulder as an extra running lane."

First report at 7.20am today from our reporter Chris Tate:

There was chaos on the roads this morning after a collision on the M62 eastbound between junctions 26 and 27.

Eyewitness reports say at least two vehicles  - a box van and flatbed truck - were in a collsion in the fast lane on the motorway. Emergency services had closed all three lanes eastbound and they are not expected to re-open until at least 10am.

Traffic was snarled up to the Chair Bar roundabout by 6.45am with further queues likely.

There were no immediate reports on casualities, but all three emergency services were at the scene of the incident.
 

Emergency services from Cleckheaton and Odsal could not reach the scene due to the road repair crash barriers between junctions 26 and 27, which meant vehicles could not move out of their way.

But firecrews and an ambulance from Morley reached the two vans by driving up the hard shoulder on the other side of the concrete barrier.
