Your final chance to vote in our Community Stars awards for 2012 is fast approaching... who do you think deserves to be given a medal for their service to the people of Bradford?

This year we are for the second time running our Community Stars Awards, after a phenomenal inaugural event this time last year which saw those who were voted the cream of the crop receiving their Bradford and District Medals at a glittering ceremony at City Hall.

Like last year, we were delighted with the nominations that flooded in over summer when we asked you to nominate those who went the extra mile in a variety of categories: volunteer, community group, community champion, good neighbour, fundraiser, young active citizen and, for the first time this year, sports-maker.

Entries flooded in and the judging panel had some extremely difficult decisions to narrow all the wonderful nominations down to a shortlist of just three in each category.

And now we're handing over the final decision to you, the readers of the T&A. But you’ll have to be quick – nominations close on Monday.

Just click on the Community Stars banner at the top of the page on this website.

Then you’ll be taken to our special Community Stars section, in which you’ll be able to read biographies of each of the three shortlisted people or groups in each of the categories.

When you’ve read them all, click on the link at the bottom of each section and you’ll find a ballot form that you can print out, tick your choice, and send in to Anna Frater at the Council, who is busy at the moment collating your votes.

We know it's a difficult job choosing just one from each category – all our shortlisted entrants, indeed all the people who were nominated, deserve recognition.

But don’t forget, while we only want one vote in each category from you, you can vote in as many of the different categories as you like.

We'd like to thank everyone who took the time and effort to nominate others, and while the winning medal can only go to an individual or group in each category, the people who were nominated really represent everyone out there who gives their time and energy to selflessly help others, and every one of those people are true Community Stars.
