A woman staff member was pinned down during a terrifying robbery at a care home.

The 22-year-old woman was held down on a sofa by two suspects who made off with two safes containing a large amount of money.

Detectives today released an e-fit of one of the suspects they are hunting after the raid at the Rough Nook care home, in West Lane, Haworth.

Two men entered the living room area of the accommodation, at about 6.30am last Saturday and demanded access to the safe from a member of staff.

The woman was held down while the safe was removed from a cupboard and taken from the building. The men then returned to another side of the house and removed a second safe before making off.

Detective Inspector Rick Partis, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “This was an extremely frightening experience for the staff member, having been held down for a time during the incident. Although very shocked, she was thankfully uninjured.

“The men who committed this offence appear to have some knowledge of the premises and it appears some amount of planning had gone into this.

“Bearing this in mind, it is possible that they may have been around the building prior to the offence and I would call on anyone who has seen any suspicious activity to come forward.

“They have taken a considerable amount of cash and it is important that we are able to trace those responsible. In releasing this e-fit we hope to develop further evidence that will allow us to quickly make an arrest.

“If you recognise the man in the image or have any information which you think could assist in our investigations, please get in touch.

“You can call on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”

The first man is described as white, in his early 20s, about 6ft, of slim build with dark hair and facial stubble. He was wearing dark trousers and a black hooded jacket.

The second man is believed to have been wearing dark clothing on his upper body.
