RL centre proposal for former school site
10:00am Wednesday 31st October 2012 in News
Senior councillors are being asked to give the initial go-ahead to turn a former school site in Bradford into a Rugby League centre of excellence in a £1.5 million scheme.
If agreed the Council would work to develop a scheme on the former Wyke Manor School campus similar to the one it already runs at the Marley Activities and Coaching Centre in Keighley.
Bradford Council’s executive will discuss various options for the site when it returns to local authority control on November 9, following Wyke Manor and High Fernley Primary Schools being replaced by the through-age Appleton Academy on the High Fernley site.
The recommended option is to demolish the old Wyke Manor school buildings apart from the sports hall and redevelop the site for enhanced sport provision.
