District prepares for Eid celebrations

Bradford Council for Mosques has sent a message of “love and peace” to all Bradfordians as Eid celebrations get under way.

Council for Mosques chief executive Mohammed Saleem Khan said Eid prayers would be held in the city and district mosques, with large numbers expected to attend.

He said: “The Council for Mosques wish happy Eid to all the Muslim community and extend love and peace to all Bradfordians.”

Airedale and North Bradford Police say its officers will be working during the festival time to make sure celebrations pass peacefully and that the general public can enjoy and appreciate the city’s diverse make-up.

PC Munir Akhtar, from Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “A key element of Eid centres on crime prevention. It is vital people are aware of home and personal security. Many will be sharing gifts, money, wearing new clothes and jewellery.”
