MP Greg Mullholland secures House of Commons debate over beer duty

Otley's MP has helped secure a Parliamentary debate over the rise in beer duty. Greg Mulholland, chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Save the Pub Group, teamed up with Andrew Griffiths, who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, and other MPs to call for the discussion next Thursday.
They will air concerns about the beer duty escalator, which automatically increases the annual tax on beer to two per cent above the rate of inflation "The escalator is hugely damaging to brewers and, whereas supermarkets can absorb the increase in the price of beer, pubs simply cannot.” said Lib Dem Mr Mullholland.
