A group of residents were trapped in their flat as a fire raged inside their hallway.
Firefighters were called to the first floor property in Westdale Grove, Pudsey just before 2am this morning. Two men and a women, believed to be in their early 20s, and a bull terrier dog, remained in a bedroom with the door shut as firefighters tackled the flames.
The occupants were led to safety and treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Police are investigating the incident.
A spokesman for Stanningley fire station said: "It's being treated as suspected arson, something has been set alight at the door.
"A rock's been thrown at the window, perhaps to wake them up, like they were trying to scare them."
