A football pitch might be sold to make way for a housing development, to the anger of some residents.
Eccleshill United Football Club wants to use money from any sale of the land in Kingsway, Wrose, to renovate its ground.
The club has submitted an application to Bradford Council and is awaiting a decision on whether part of the site could be used for housing.
However, some residents are worried that any such development would harm the area.
Football club secretary Paul Jarvis said: "We'd just be selling the small pitch at the top. We'd only be losing a small piece of land and in the long run everybody would benefit from the move."
Mr Jarvis said that the training ground at the club was dilapidated and money was needed to restore it.
He said: "We need to push things forward."
But Kingsway resident Kathleen Wilson said: "The area is supposed to be recreation ground. We're all objecting to this, we don't want lorries going round and a load of new houses."
A public meeting will be held at 7.30pm tonight at Eccleshill United Clubhouse in Kingsway, where residents are invited to voice their opinions about the proposal.

Similar situation to Farsley Celtic where Leeds Council refused them planning permission to build residential prpoerties on a cricket pitch. Time to apply to one of the several Govt agancies that fund development of sports facilities Eccleshill and not build on another one.

Wrose is an area that receives very little funding from the council due to it being a so called affluent area. It makes a change for a club to go ahead and promote itself through funding to benefit the local community as a whole. The committee at Eccleshill deserve all the plaudits for taking this desision and good luck to the club for the future. There will be obviously distractions along the way but the main beneficiaries can only be the people of Wrose. What has Wrose got to offer with regards to community enterprise and spirit at the moment?A rapidly expanding network of takeaways.

Eccleshill United........Only after money like the failed Wrose Travel which I believe Mr Jarvis has something to do with, did they ever get the contract back for schools after the coaches were found to be unsafe?
