All change for Bantams
|
| Willy Topp is expected to line up alongside Peter Thorne in attack |
Willy Topp will make his first start for seven games this afternoon as Stuart McCall again rings the City changes.
The Chilean, still looking to open his
scoring account, is likely to partner Peter Thorne up front against Chesterfield.
McCall was pleased with his side's battling display which earned a point at Rotherham on Saturday but he had already told the squad there will be different faces on duty at Valley Parade with two matches in the space of three days.
Alex Rhodes could also come back into midfield but McCall has some thinking to do at the back. On-loan Fulham centre half TJ Moncur missed Millmoor through personal reasons and it is doubtful he will be in the right frame of mind to play. Mark Bower, who made his first appearance for three months in south Yorkshire, may struggle to play again so quickly.
Darren Williams was in for treatment yesterday for a bang on the calf and is another doubt.
McCall said: "We can freshen the team up middle to front but we are struggling a bit defensively. We've got a few knocks and it's tough but that's the same for every team playing back-to-back games.
"The boys worked ever so hard on Saturday. They realised they let everyone down last week against Mansfield and gave the right response.
"I sensed there was a steely determination in the dressing room and they carried that out for the 90 minutes on the pitch.
"We more than matched a good Rotherham side and could have come away with more.
"Now we need to do that for the rest of the season. It's no good battling like that and then not performing properly today - we need to back it up, as we've been saying all season."
Omar Daley, who flew off to Jamaica on international duty yesterday, begins a three-match ban after his Rotherham dismissal. The winger was shown a straight red for a clash with home defender Graham Coughlan.
Rotherham boss Mark Robins claimed Daley kicked Coughlan while he was on the ground. McCall will review the video before deciding what punishment to dish out.
He admitted: "It happened right near to me but whether I was turning round to make a substitution or telling somebody to warm up, I just didn't see a thing.
"Omar says it was a tangle and their boy put his knee up. But speaking to their lad after the game, he was saying Omar had been stupid."
But City will not have to face Chesterfield danger man Jack Lester. The prolific former Nottingham Forest striker, who McCall rates the best in the division, badly broke his nose in their 4-2 comeback win over Accrington and could be out for three weeks.

With the red card for Omar it will FORCE Stuart to look at other options for the squad, so in hindsight I don't think it will be a bad thing to lose Omar for 3 games, even if it makes Stuart's mind up not to retain certain individuals.
Bet it failed in comparison to Deano's stupid tackle when we played Bournemouth that time. Now that was totaly stupidity.
Fingers crossed for a win today, Thorne to score first.
Here is a tempting bet if anyone likes a flutter, West Brom to win the FA Cup against Cardiff within 90 mins no added time.

" Will-E-B-'TOPP GUN'
tonight, after scoring his first goal-even goals??.
Stuart has rested him with his legs problem. But I think he should consider further medical treatment,if he can not complete a full game. He will be part of next Seasons' squad, and we want him 100% fully fit and 'Match Fit'at the beginning; after any medical tratments being carried out, ASAP now!.
This morning I am suffering from my usual PMT.( Pre-Match Tension!)
Whilst in this anxious light headed state of mind I have been assessing the remainder of this Season--AGAIN!.
If Colbeck & Topp score today with a 2-0 Win result.( WHAT!)
There is an outside chance of a 'Play Off' slot at the last match of the Season @ Wycombe(A)?!.(NO WAY! I HEAR YOU SAY)
We have matches against opposition that are going for 'Play Off' slots.
For example:- Chesterfield(H)TODAY
. Darlington(A) Rochdale(A)Morecambe
(H) Grimsby(H) M K DONS(H)
'ALL OF THE AFORE MENTIONED CLUBS, ARE IN CONTENTION FOR PROMOTION/PLAY OFFS.'
If we could get results agaist these Clubs, they are all "6 POINTERS" (if we could win them?.)
It would be great if we could get further points against Barnet (H)-GOING WELL, and Brentford(A).
It is an outside chance, but I want to go to that fabulous stadium Wembley again!(THIS SEASON or NEXT??).
Now this is totally contradictory, to my previous predictions post. No doubt I will be derided, for even thinking in this POSITIVE manner.
I wonder if we could achieve this target with the HELP of our genuine Supporters.
IF WE ENCOURAGE OUR TEAM TODAY,TO GET A WIN RESULT .THEN THIS FORECAST WOULD BEGIN TO GAIN CREDIBILITY?!!
DO NOT, REPEAT-NOT DERIDE/SLAG OFF/ OUR TEAM TODAY.
CONSTANT BACKING AND ENCOURAGEMENT WILL BOOST THEIR CONFIDENCE ENORMOUSLY. DO NOT SHOUT OUT NEGATIVE OFFENSIVE REMARKS AT THE PLAYERS. THAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO FAIL AND LOSE THIS IMPOTANT TURNING POINT MATCH!!?.
My PMT will subside at 15:01 Today!!!

If you choose to recall I was one of the few that said the link with Billy Topp and WBA was nonesense, it wasn't going to happen and probably never will.
As we haven't lost our last game, it is a bit quiet on here so I have tried to deviate from the topic a little with my tip for the FA Cup final.
You can really be a bit of a stick in the mud at times Albion. It's sunny outside, get down to VP and cheer up before having to go back to work just as I will be in 5 mins time.
For the record we sold Moore onto Portsmouth who in turn sold him onto West Brom after almost 2 years, now he has linked back up with Jewell or should I say vice versa to be a bit more precise. We actually bought him for a paltry sum from Doncaster.

We win again and where are all the posters on here. Where are all the whingers, it is as quiet on here as it was in the TL Dallas stand all afternoon lol.
Chesterfield were one of the most lathargic teams to play at VP this season, not fight or anything at all, not a team playing for a play off spot at all. Not nit picking on our performance here, but Chesterfield were poor, they came back into it a little bit second half, but we were solid enough, nothing flash, but a solid performance none the less.
Starosta for me was the best player in the first half, some good tackling, some decent passing and some excellent balls into the area.
Colbeck was his usual self running for everything, ok a couple of little mistakes, but can not really argue with his man of the match award, another top performance, he really is becoming a very good assett for us.
Can't complain about the ref, hardly noticed him most of the game, a bit like the away supporters lol.
To all the moaners about the "Chuckle Brothers", did you join in the chant "Stuart McCall's Bradford army" in the 2nd half, it was drowning out everything else, anyone want to name names on whoe started these chants by any chance, they seemed to go on forever lol.
Lets just hope we can have a bit of consistency now till end of the season, we know we can do the job in hand, turning decent teams over, 4 points from Rotherham away and Chesterfield at home speaks volumes especially as we were a man down away from home. We just need to do it week in week out.
STUART MCCALL'S BRADFORD ARMY.
Well done lads to a solid enough performance.

Me & my son were joining in with the Stuart McCall's Bradford Army Chant. We were loving it today, Good atmosphere today lets keep it up. Thought the chant was going to go on till full time lol.

£300,000 from donny i think

Hmm, Ricky76 I was having the same thoughts as you - every game I miss we either win or play well but don't get the result we deserve. the only win I can remember seeing all season was against Peterborough which we didn't really deserve in all fairness.
Not only that, but even the goals we have scored when we've lost or drawn when i've been there seem to take place when i'm queing for coffee, arriving late etc.
Now I know the obvious response here is that if i came to all of the games, arrived on time, didn't leave early etc etc, but yesterday was going to be a struggle for me to make so I decided to stay away on the basis that i'd rather miss a win than watch a loss(?) and look what happened.
Perhaps I should be sponsored to stay away and the money could go in to a kitty which we could spend on players?
