What a perfect way to spend Christmas Eve with Eldwick’s Travelling Nativity – a retelling of the Christmas story as you travel from Nazareth to Bethlehem with Mary, Joseph, Ben the donkey and a whole host of characters. Borrow a costume to become one of the characters and join in the carols. The journey starts at 4pm at Eldwick Church Hall, behind St Lawrence’s church, and ends back at the hall with refreshments. There is no charge. Don’t forget to bring a torch to light your way.

The Carol Train event starts at 7pm at Oxenhope Railway Station tonight on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, departing at 7.30pm and continuing along the Worth Valley, stopping at all stations en route. Passengers will get off at each station and sing carols accompanied by a choir and brass band. There will be pie and peas and refreshments when the train arrives at Keighley Station. £2 from each ticket will go to the Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

On Thursday, Albion Christmas at Victoria Hall, Saltaire, offers the perfect antidote to the corporate Christmas. This year the band have put together a new show, but with the same traditional feel. Expect music, readings, tales and anecdotes of the traditions and experience of Christmas and winter from years gone by. In the afternoon, the band will give a special one-off show with material tailored especially for Primary School-age children. Songs and stories with the band’s seasonal style and plenty of chance for youngsters to join in.

The Nativity at Main Street, Haworth, is the final weekend of Haworth's Christmas Festival and reflects the true spirit of Christmas. The traditional Christmas story will be re-enacted on Christmas Eve when the story will be narrated and carols sung.
