The Tenth Fantastic Films Weekend at the National Media Museum takes place from next Friday to Sunday. This is the UK’s fastest-growing festival dedicated to horror, fantasy and sci-fi cinema and television – a must-see event showcasing a disparate line-up of classic chillers, sci-fi shockers, fantasy epics, vintage TV shows and rarely-seen gems from the vaults. A marching band contest featuring the top marching bands from around the country takes place at Horsfall Stadium, Cemetery Road, tomorrow from 11.30am. There will also be hot food, bar and family attractions. Tickets cost £5 adults, £3 concessions and £1 for children over five.

There’s a Fabulous At 50 Fun Day at Manor House Art Gallery & Museum on Thursday, from 2pm to 5pm, marking the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Manor House in Ilkley as a Museum and Art Gallery and everyone is invited to the celebration.

Why not go along to the Family Fun Fete at St Peters Church, Addingham, next Saturday when the Haworth Silver Band will provide the musical entertainment? There will be stalls, sideshows, refreshments and ample free parking available. The Fun Fete is on from 2pm until 4.30pm.

Tomorrow will be your last chance to join in the fun and learn more about the Harewood Bird Garden and the important conservation work they do. There’ll be activities going on in the Bird Garden for young artists. The event runs from noon to 3pm at Harewood House, and entry is included with a day ticket.

Emily Bronte’s cabinet piano at the Bronte Parsonage has – until now – only been played once in 150 years. Now is your chance to hear pianist Maya Irgaline from the Royal Northern College of Music as she performs music chosen from the Brontes music books, including Beethoven and Handel. The concert is on from 10.30am to 2.30pm and is free with admission to the museum.
