Bring back the spirit of camaraderie at Haworth’s 1940s Weekend, which runs from next Friday to Monday. The GIs and the boys in blue will be in town, with re-enactments, jive dancing, vintage cars and plenty of people in costume. It’s a great day out for the whole family. There are dances on the Friday night to kick of the weekend at the community centre and also on Saturday, with a big band and DJ, at Victoria Hall, Keighley. Street party fever is set to continue when a 1950s evening at the National Media Museum will transport you back to the era of the Coronation of the Queen and the Festival of Britain, with a live swing dance band and screenings from British film and television. Next Friday, from 6pm to 10pm, the museum will open its doors in the evening as part of the nationwide Museums At Night project. Inspired by the 60th anniversary of the Festival of Britain, the museum invites you to discover some of the flavour of the decade by exploring rarely-seen images of the festival.

All your children’s favourite characters from the hit BBC show Shaun The Sheep will be at the Alhambra from Thursday to Sunday, including Bitzer, Shirley, Timmy and the rest of the flock in a magical music and dance extravaganza.
