Next Saturday and Sunday, the eighth annual Scarecrow Festival takes place at Cullingworth Recreation Ground, with proceeds shared between Manorlands Hospice and Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Scarecrows will be on display from 10am to 4pm on both days. Pick up a programme for £1 from any shop in Cullingworth, or visit the information centre in the Village Hall. You can also board the free minibus which does a regular tour of the exhibits around the village.

Activity days at Bradford Industrial Museum include Get Moving, Get Making, next Thursday. Inspired by the cricket exhibition 107 Not Out at the museum, there will be outdoor games led by Bradford’s community sports coaches and craft activities in the museum. You can step back in time and try your hand at housework the Victorian way, or you can create your own dream holiday island at Caribbean Cool. All the activities, which run from 11am to 3pm, are free and suitable for all ages unless otherwise stated. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

From 10am to noon or 1pm to 3pm, you can design a t-shirt with the Olympic Games in mind. At 10am, 11am, 1pm or 2pm, design and make a photo frame for a picture of your favourite Olympian. From 10am to noon and 1pm to 3pm, make your own lantern using sticks to make the structure.

From Wednesday to Sunday, Finnies Funfair will be at Lister Park with more than 50 rides. Family favourites include the carousel, big wheel and ghost train, while the more adventurous will want to try the Mega Bounce or Matterhorn.

If you visit Skipton from next Saturday, you can follow a unique trail around the town’s main landmarks and hidden gems with the Flock To Skipton project. Along the way you will come across 25 sheep sculptures, painted by various artists.
