Celebrate British soaps with a week of family fun at the National Media Museum. From Monday to Sunday you can make a soap star mask, present the BBC news, watch as the TV studio comes to life as a scene is produced from EastEnders, test your knowledge of British soaps, make your own TV advert or animated soap scene. Tomorrow is the 130th Bingley Show, one of the largest in the country, with 18,000 visitors last year. There’s something for all members of the family from Titan the Robot for children to a host of animals to see around the show or demonstrations to enjoy.

Dove Cottage, in Shibden Hall Road, near Halifax, is open tomorrow from 10am to 5pm as part of the National Gardens Scheme. The garden has been featured in several magazines and was on Gardeners’ World. Planted with unusual perennials and flowering grasses, the garden has a natural and romantic feel to it and will be at its flowering best this month. Morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon teas will be served on the terrace overlooking the third of an acre garden. Admission is £3, children free, and there is limited wheelchair access.

Until tomorrow you can enjoy the Continental Market Weekend in Ilkley – part of Ilkley Summer Festival. The Grove will be closed for a traffic-free experience while you browse and shop with a variety of bands at the Bandstand to entertain. This will be followed next Saturday and Sunday by a picnic and party at the Riverside from 1pm to 9pm. Today, entertainment is provided by singer, pianist and guitarist Mike Sanchez, while tomorrow, The Great Pretender, Steve Littlewood, presents his Freddie Mercury tribute show.

Classic car lovers will enjoy the West Yorkshire Classic Vehicle event at Nostell Priory in Wakefield tomorrow. It runs from 10am to 4pm, and there will be more than 150 fully-restored classic cars on display, together with trade and autojumble stands. You can expect to see an array of club vehicle displays including Stag Owners Club, Morris Minor Owners Club and many private entries as well. Whether you are a fan of early 1960s MGs and Jaguar E- Types, or Porches, Mini Coopers, Triumphs, or Lotus – there will be cars for you to admire. Tickets cost £6 adults, children seven to 14, £2.
