Bradford Players perfomance was streets ahead
Little Germany Theatre
As the curtain rose on a dozen pairs of feet tapping in perfect unison, it would be fair to say that a few people shifted a little further forward in their seats to get a closer look.
The Bradford Players chorus line performed wonderful classic tap routines. This was an explosion of energy that promised more, and the first routine left not only the cast, but the audience breathless.
It's a show within a show, with the plot following the cast of a musical called Pretty Lady, in particular newcomer Peggy Sawyer, played by Nicole Connor.
Pretty Lady is going to secure the financial future of producer Julian Marsh, played by Nigel Dixon. His last hope and last dime are ploughed into it and the fortunes of all involved hinge on it being a success.
Gorgeous costumes, a soaring musical score backed by a wonderful ten-piece orchestra, inspired choreography and a well-chosen cast pull together a show that will bring a smile to anyone's face.
In true musical theatre style, the Bradford Players urge you to forget your troubles, kick up your heels and indulge in this wonderful piece of escapism.
Runs until tomorrow at 7.15pm, with a matinee at 2.15pm.
