Illusionist and showman Derren Brown strolled confidently onto the Alhambra Theatre stage this evening looking dapper in a tailored suit, with perfectly trimmed facial hair, and wearing only one shoe.
Where on Earth had his other shoe gone?
Well I know, and so do the rest of the audience at last night’s sold out gig.
But to be honest, he’s asked us not to tell you anything else about the show, and I don’t want to.
His website gives nothing away, so why should I?
The show relies on the element of surprise, the sudden shocks and the laughs.
So I won’t spoil it for you. But you can rest assured, those of you going to the sold out Svengali shows tonight and tomorrow will be guaranteed a lot of audience interaction and a huge amount of “How did he do that, it’s impossible” moments.
And the standing ovation he received at the end of last night’s performance seemed to say it all. I’m sure he didn’t trick us into doing that.
