Summer Holiday
at St George’s Hall
The winter blues have melted away, thanks to this sparkling show from Buttershaw St Paul’s Amateur Operatic Dramatic Society.
The lively, feel-good production featured impressive performances, with the spotlight on a strong cast of younger members, proving that there’s a bright future in amateur dramatics in the city. With catchy choreography set to a finger-clicking score of Sixties hits including Bachelor Boy, Move It, Living Doll and the sing-along title song, this was a thoroughly entertaining version of the Cliff Richard classic. Heading up the groovy young things touring Europe in a double-decker bus were Andy Redfern, charismatic as hunky Don, and Amy Jagger, who was very impressive in the dual roles of Bobby and Barbara.
There were great comic performances too from Anne Tonks as pushy Stella and Phil Jowett as hapless Jerry.
A dazzling sprinkling of sunshine from a talented cast and crew.
Runs until Saturday.
