WE are surrounded by a sea of 'Frozen' Elsas and Annas.

Heads are adorned with flashing Minnie ears and Elsa plaits and illuminated wands are being waved around - and that's just the Mums!! Meanwhile, a stray Tigger limbers up the stairway in search of their seat as the excitement builds.

The magic of Disney crosses all generations. For grown-ups Minnie and Mickey are the stalwart characters of childhood storybooks and for little ones alike. But, for the younger generation, there are some new kids on the block too - siblings, Elsa and Anna, from the magical film 'Frozen' which spawned the internationally-acclaimed sing-a-long 'Let it Go' are just as likely to draw squeals of delight as the original Disney characters, and they did, when they glided on to their glistening stage at the First Direct Arena in Leeds last night.

Produced by Feld Entertainment, the show forms part of a tour running until May 15 and commemorating the Silver Anniversary of Disney on Ice throughout Europe.

Adults, teens, toddlers, even babes in arms, were captivated as their favourite characters gracefully spun and sparkled, performing breathtaking moves in the most perfectly choreographed production.

Travelling with our tour guides, Mickey and Minnie with Donald and Daisy Duck and Goofy, we venture into a world of fairytales and make believe, a world where dreams do come true and last night they did for the near-capacity crowd who were bedazzled and absorbed in the moment with many mouthing the words to songs from their favourite film scenes.

For Disney fans this was all familiar territory with tales from their favourite books and films re-told and translated before them in a polished performance by the tour's professional skating cast.

From the peaceful and serene, 'It's a small World,' featuring characters cloaked in colourful costumes depicting cultures from around the world, we are transported to the Kingdom of Lions in Africa where scenes from 'The Lion King' are dramatically played out.

Then it was up, up and away for some fabulous aerial scenes in Peter Pan's 'Neverland.'

Special mention to the costumed characters, Pumbaa, from the 'Lion King' and Nana the St Bernard in the 'Neverland' scene from Peter Pan who coped with the complexity of skating on all fours!

There were gasps of excitement as a pirate ship, complete with Captain Hook and his crew, sailed on to the ice and a huge inflatable crocodile also put in an appearance during this visually stunning show.

Precision and perfection is what Disney fans have come to expect and the cast and crew delivered as we plunged into the depths of Ariel's mystical and magical underwater kingdom, meeting The Little Mermaid's Sebastian the crab and sea witch Ursula.

But the piece de resistance had to be the breathtaking 'Frozen' finale featuring some beautiful synchronised skating scenes and the classic sing-a-long favourite 'Let it Go' to which the crowd responded in fine song!

A magical performance and must-see show for all the family. The Leeds show runs until Sunday (May 8) at the First Direct Arena. For tickets, and for more information on other show dates and venues call 0333 344 6250 or visit disneyonice.co.uk
