AWARD-WINNING comedian Josie Long performed an impromptu show in Bradford last night - just a few hours after appealing for help in finding a venue.

The venue for the free gig - Fuse Art Space in Rawson Place - was announced only yesterday afternoon after a Twitter appeal to find an indoor location.

The Alternative Reality Tour is travelling through cities throughout the country, bringing free shows featuring comedy, music, art and food.

What makes the tour unique is the fact that when they arrive in the city the group has no idea where they will be holding that evening's show.

Ms Long said she hoped the show was an antidote to the "prevailing mood in the country, which feels very negative and pessimistic".

She described it as a "Challenge Anneka-style adventure" which aimed to "bring a bit of joy".

Last night's gig brought back memories of her first performance in Bradford eight years ago.

Only around 60 people turned up to the St George's Hall gig, she recalled.

"It was 15 times the size of the venues I was used to playing. It was really difficult. I have blacked it out."
