WHERE will you find Shrek, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, rock legends Judas Priest, Heathcliff, Miss Hannigan and Dara O'Briain this summer?

They'll all be treading the boards of Bradford Theatres stages as part of a glittering line-up for the new season.

The season opens with Ayub Khan Din’s East is East, starring Pauline McGlynn as the mother of a family torn between cultures, and quality drama continues with a new stage adaptation of Daphne Du Maurier's mystery classic, Rebecca.

It's a good season for musical theatre too, with hit show Shrek The Musical hitting the Alhambra in September. Join the green hero and his loyal steed Donkey as they embark on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona from a lovesick dragon. Add the diminutive Lord Farquaad, a gang of fairytale misfits, and a biscuit with attitude, and you've got an all singing, all-dancing family adventure bringing the hit animation to life.

Other musicals coming to the Alhambra include Annie, starring Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood as Miss Hannigan; Priscilla Queen Of The Desert, starring Jason Donovan, and Hairspray, starring Claire Sweeney and Peter Duncan.

Acclaimed rock musical Jesus Christ Superstar returns, and Britain’s national dance company, Rambert brings the rock‘n’roll swagger of the Rolling Stones to life in Rooster. Also for dance fans, there's all-male ballerina ensemble Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Moscow Ballet's Nutcracker, Strictly Come Dancing professionals presenting Puttin' On the Ritz, and Northern Ballet performing Emily Brontë’s masterpiece Wuthering Heights and children's ballet Elves and The Shoemaker.

Over at St George’s Hall, the Alhambra Studio and Ilkley's King’s Hall, there's a range of comedy, music and family events. Comics Sarah Millican, Dave Spikey, Sean Hughes, Tim Vine, Justin Moorhouse, Ken Dodd and Dara O’Briain will be tickling ribs, and there's music from The Proclaimers, Bay City Rollers starring Les McKeown, Jools Holland, Dr Hook, The Troggs and Andy Williams, with the Osmonds. And rock legends Judas Priest are at St George's Hall this autumn.

Family shows include The Basil Brush Show, What the Ladybird Heard, Mister Maker and Dinosaur Zoo, bringing prehistoric creatures to life.

Ann Widdecombe brings her one-woman show to town, wildlife presenter Steve Backshall presents Wild World, and Freddie Flintoff - 2nd Innings takes a look at "the stories, the sledging, the truth".

One Man Breaking Bad: The Unauthorised Parody sends up the box set favourite, and if you didn't manage to get a ticket for any of the Fleetwood Mac concerts, you can catch their hits in Rumours of Fleetwood Mac.

The season ends with West Yorkshire’s biggest panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, starring Billy Pearce, Lisa Riley, John Challis and Jake Canuso.

* Tickets for all events are on (01274) 432000.
