TONIGHT St George's Hall will be heaving - with laughter - as the panel members of I’m Sorry I Haven’t A Clue embark on a number of silly tasks which will hopefully include Mornington Crescent, arguably the most inexplicable game on BBC radio.

The last time the show was recorded at St George's, in June last year, the stalls and the circle were packed.

Overseeing proceedings during this special series of live dates will be comedian, writer and regular presenter of BBC Radio 4's popular News Quiz, Sandi Toksvig. She will be joined by the show’s familiar faces Tim Brooke-Taylor, Barry Cryer, Graeme Garden and Jeremy Hardy.

Jack Dee, who took over the chairmanship in 2009 after the death of Humphrey Lyttleton the previous year, won't be present this time. In a searching Q&A, Sandi Toksvig revealed that the laconic Jack had been despatched to the Lofoten Islands on a Herring awareness course. If that fishy explanation seems far-fetched, probably it is.

The remainder of the Q&A is as follows:-

Q: You've appeared as a guest on Clue in the past. How do you feel about taking over the chair for this tour?

A: I think it was only a matter of time. The truth is I don’t really like sitting with the other panelists as some of their conditions are catching.

Q: You're a brilliant host of The News Quiz, how will chairing Clue be different?

A: I’m going to be using a different chair. It’s subtle but those of us who are in the chairing business know it can make for a marked variation in style.

Q: What are your favourite rounds and are there any rounds you'd want to join in?

A: There are rounds? I wonder if I ought to read the rules.

Q: Will Samantha be on tour with the show?

A: I have spent many years leading up to this moment and I don’t believe it would be possible to manage without Samantha. She is the ying to my yang, the crumble to my apple, the yodel to my Swiss holiday.

Q: Was Samantha upset by the recent controversy or did she take it lying down?

A: She swallowed the whole thing with professionalism.

Q: Will you be kind to Colin Sell at the piano?

A: No.

Q: How do you think radio comedy has changed over the 40 years that Clue has been running?

A: I’m not sure it has. Indeed I am fairly confident Tim has worn the same suit since 1967.

Q: Scandinavian TV has made a great impact in re-shaping crime drama. Do you see a flood of Scandinavian comedy coming our way soon?

A: I think there have been a lot of poorly translated subtitles. ‘The Killing’, ‘The Bridge’, ‘Borgen’, those are all comedies.

Q: Have you played the St George’s Hall before?

A: I have played here before and I love the place. St George’s Hall is the oldest concert hall still in use in the United Kingdom and you can feel the laughter echoing down the ages. A great place to play

The show is on at St George's Hall tonight starting at 7.30pm. The box office number is 01274-432000.
