THE DEMON Barbers are among headliners at the Cleckheaton Folk Festival, which runs from July 1 to 3.

The Haworth-based folk band will perform their XL song and dance show on the Saturday of the festival in partnership with Creative Scene.

The Demon Barbers, who won the BBC2 Radio 2 Best Live Act 2009, return with with a new repertoire, extra band members and a modern twist to their multi-award-winning Roadshow.

There will also be pre-festival workshops and a chance to join in part of the festival entertainment.

The Pitmen Poets are the Friday headliners at the festival, featuring former Lindisfarne singer and songwriter Billy Mitchell, renowned singer and instrumentalist Bob Fox, leading exponent of Tyneside song Benny Graham, and much-covered songwriter Jezz Lowe.

Together they celebrate the trials, tragedy, humour and hard times of North-East England’s coal mining edition through song, music, spoken word and atmospheric archive photography.

The All Stars Concert at Cleckheaton Town Hall on the Sunday will feature Coope Boyes And Simpson with their pithy and amusing words delivered with spine tingling harmonies, multi-instrumentalists The Shee, Radio 2 Folk Award winners Faustus, and Young Folk Award nominees Granny’s Attic.
