A MUSICAL tribute to the late David Bowie by performing arts students has become a hit on social media.

Twenty eight students at Stage 84 in Idle, Bradford, recorded a short video performance, including versions of Starman and Heroes, which was put together by musical director Jim Lunt.

After a two-hour rehearsal, the tribute was recorded and edited by Stage 84 managing director Craig Winward.

He said: "We have had really good feedback on comments on the video. It's a lovely arrangement - meaningful and poignant."

Just a few hours after it was posted on Facebook and Twitter, the video was viewed more than 5,000 times.

The students who took part are aged from 13 to 18 and attend performing arts classes.

"We are really pleased with the work of the young people," said Mr Winward.

"It introduced them to Bowie, if they are not already familiar with his music."

He said the performance was a "one-off" and there were no plans at present for an encore.
