Blues men team up for a rare session
12:47pm Friday 16th March 2012 in Leisure By Michael Black
Charismatic musicians Earl Jackson and Rollo Markee are at Keighley Blues Club next week.
Born to Jamaican parents in Lambeth in 1964, Earl was heavily influenced by gospel music.
Earl was invited to join a band in the mid-1980s and is now a well-known figure on the British rock’n’roll circuit with his band The Earl Jackson Band. He has been playing Chuck Berry in the show Rockin’ On Heaven’s Door.
Rollo Markee started playing blues aged 17, having been inspired by his mentor Julius Junior. Rollo Markee and the Tailshakers formed in 1998 with a vision to create a blues-swing band with an authentic 1950s/60s sound.
Due to a multitude of commitments, Earl and Rollo only rarely team up. Catch them at Keighley Blues Club on March 23. For tickets, e-mail bbj21@btinternet.com or ring (01535) 600310.
