Blues artist Cherry Lee Mewis is appearing in Keighley this weekend.
The singer is said to have taken roots and blues music and turned it into a cool, swinging fusion that’s both classic and contemporary.
Two years on from her debut release, Little Girl Blue, she headed back to the recording studio to produce the largely-self-penned Southbound Train.
The album features new arrangements of four 1920s blues numbers, and her songwriting is showcased in tracks such as the mandolin-led Time Limits and the haunting Dancing Like Diamonds.
Cherry Lee Mewis will be appearing with her band at Keighley Blues Club on Friday. For tickets, ring (01535) 600310, or 07522 326855.
