There will be pints and pie-and-pea suppers to accompany the music when Bingley Arts Centre goes into folk-club mode for a gig by singer-songwriter Roger Davies.

The Brighouse-based folkie’s show on tomorrow, at which he will be supported by Holly Tamar and Chris Bilton, is the first of a series of folk evenings planned for the venue.

Many of Roger’s songs reflect places, people and events of his home county, with titles such as Judy Woods, Huddersfield Town, Brighouse on Saturday Night, Beerbelly Blues and sing-along club favourite Percy Shaw, Roger’s tribute to the Halifax man who invented the “cats’ eye” reflecting road studs.

Roger, described by folk scene veteran Harvey Andrews as “the best thing I’ve seen in 20 years”, has recently released a new single, Stephanie.
