For more than 30 years, the Pasadena Roof Orchestra has made a name for itself the world over with its repertoire of swing and dance music.
Named after the song Home In Pasadena, the orchestra specialise in virtuoso interpretations of original arrangements from the Twenties and Thirties.
The musicians have 200 arrangements to choose from, including Puttin’ On The Ritz, Tiger Rag, Georgia On My Mind and Singin’ In The Rain.
The PRO was founded in 1969 by big band music fan and master baker John Arthy, who reportedly found in an attic more than 1,000 arrangements of swing and dance tunes from the 1920s to the 1940s.
The orchestra’s first album was released in 1974, the first tour followed a year later. They’ve been going ever since.
On January 18, they swing into Leeds Town Hall for a show that starts at 7.30pm. For tickets ring (0113) 2243801.
