Russell Watson is coming to St George's Hall in May
English tenor Russell Watson (pictured) will be coming to St George’s Hall in the spring.
The 45-year-old singer, who has twice had operations for cancer since 2006, is bringing his La Voce concert to the theatre, part of his 23- date UK tour to support his album of the same name.
Self-styled “The People’s Tenor”, he came to public attention in 1999 when he sang God Save The Queen at the Rugby League Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.
His 2001 debut album was called The Voice. In November last year, his seventh album, La Voce, recorded with the Roma Sinfonietta – composer Ennio Morricone’s orchestra of choice – was released.
It was his first album since being cleared after his second operation for brain cancer.
Russell Watson has sold more than seven million records worldwide.
