The worlds of jazz and classical music will collide when Jellymould Jazz present Bach ReLoaded at Otley Courthouse tomorrow.
The Bach ReLoaded album, hailed by critics as one of the best albums of 2009, is inspired by Bach’s rhythmic and melodic ideas; lifted from the confines of tradition and slammed into a jazz-fuelled environment, all with due respect for the composer.
Featuring Jenni Malloy on double bass, local musician Stuart MacDonald on soprano and tenor sax and Chris Sykes on drums, Bach ReLoaded is a fusion of contemporary, classical and ambient jazz sounds.
With verve and virtuosity, Jenni takes a melodic or rhythmic phrase from several of Bach’s most demanding works drawing her audience into a musical journey that’s both daring and unpredictable.
Bach ReLoaded is at Otley Courthouse tomorrow. For tickets, ring (01943) 467466.
