The 146th orchestral season will soon be under way at St George’s Hall, a venue recently confirmed as the oldest operating concert hall in the UK.
The third-oldest concert hall in Europe, having opened its doors for the first time in 1853, its new season includes performances from the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra and the Halle, including the New Year Viennese concert, with special guest Lesley Garrett.
The season comes to an end with a special gala concert with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
Lesley Garrett says: “I have had the great pleasure of performing regularly at St George’s Hall over many years and I always look forward to a return visit.
“I think it has some of the best acoustics in the country. I’d describe it as a golden acoustic because it's true, clear and wonderful to sing in.”
Adam Renton, general manager of Bradford Theatres, adds: “It is important for us in Bradford and beyond to hold claim to such a prestigious concert season, and long may it continue.”
* Tickets for the new season are available on (01274) 432000.
