BLUES, rock ‘n’ roll, edgy folk and Sixties pop will be on offer during a music festival at the Black Bull.

The Haworth pub is hosting the three-day event from April 8 to 10 to help raise cash for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Around 30 solos, duos and bands will perform on the Friday from 7pm and the Saturday and Sunday from 1pm.

Headliners on the Friday night will be The Eclectic Wizards, the band featuring Black Bull landlord James Winchester, following performances by Stovepipe and the Wes Paul Band.

The Eclectic Wizards are a four-piece band based in Haworth, who play covers encompassing blues, rock, rock ‘n’ roll and pop.

The Wes Paul Band grew out of a Sounds of the Sixties showcase at the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, where the Beatles started out, and the band has since toured Memphis and played along America’s famous Route 66.

The Saturday night headliners are The Roosters, who play popular rock classics from the 60s and 70s, and the hard-working Welsh T Band.

The Leeds-based Roosters, formed in 1992, cover songs by artists including the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Small Faces, The Who, The Jam, Paul Weller, Bill Withers, Mike D'Abo, Proud Mary, The Temptations, John Lee Hooker and Little Willie John.

The Welsh T Band, although based in Wakefield, promise as authentic a blues sound as you'll find this side of a Mississippi road house.

Bad Cardigan will return to Haworth to bring the festival to a close on Sunday night.

The Lancashire duo, who recently toured with The Levellers, specialise in acoustic, indie, edgy folk presented through a harmonious array of self-written music.

During the festival, admission to the Black Bowl, in Main Street, will be by donation, and there will also be raffles and collection buckets.

Craig Priestley organised the first Black Bull music festival last year in memory of his sister Sue, who had died the previous Christmas.

He promised an “absolutely cracking” line-up for the second annual event at the Black Bull.

Other acts playing include Georgia Farrar, Gerry Cooper, Benny Boy Slim, McGladdery and Gaynor Wilson, Panjenix, Ben Blue Waters, Danny Aspinall, MoodHook, the Izzy Reid Band, Red Light Revival and the Green T Band.
