A BRADFORD-based guitarist hopes to finally fulfil his dream of releasing an album after starting an online cash plea.

Dave Brons, 38, said he faced a "crossroads" two years ago as his dream of being a selling recording artist was growing distant.

However, the father-of-two has taken the plunge and set up a crowdfunding website in a bid to raise £6,000 to pay for the distribution of his new album.

Crowdfunding raises money for a project or venture from a large number of people, typically via the internet.

He has swapped working full-time as a youth worker at The Lighthouse Group in Bradford and teaching musical instruments in prisons and youth clubs, for the recording studio.

Mr Brons, of Great Horton, still works two days each week as a music teacher at the One in a Million School in Bradford and at youth clubs across the city.

His album, 'Based on a True Story', is an instrumental work and has been recorded but now needs to be mixed and distributed, which he needs to get funded.

The appeal, made through the fundraising Indiegogo website for 60 days, will run until December 8.

The cash raised will be spent on mixing the album tracks, getting the CDs made, mastering, artwork and additional musician fees.

Mr Brons said: "I'm a middle-aged guy who is taking a big risk to fulfil his dream.

"This is my last chance. I was at a crossroads.

"I have gone most of my 20s helping other people. I was teaching guitar and compositions in prisons and pupil exclusion centres, bringing hope to kids that had been written off.

"It was time for me to try to go for my dreams.

"If the campaign goes well, my target is to get the album out by Christmas. If not, it could be sometime next year instead. The album is instrumental.

"I have gone from working full-time to two days a week. I have spent all of my savings on getting an album produced.

"I thought two years ago that I'm going to do this or not.

"The music industry has changed. It's harder than ever to get a music deal. Doing it this way means I can go direct to the fans. You have to fund things in different ways.

"Crowdfunding seems to work really well. With all of these things there is a risk attached to it.

"I still go into youth clubs and do band workshops. My real passion is to give kids a chance to play instruments that they wouldn't normally get a chance to play."
