A 17-piece swing band will be taking to the stage at M Fest, Mirfield’s first music festival.

Organiser Donal O’Driscoll says: “I try to get as many different styles of music as I can at my festivals. I’ve done 11 of them in Heckmondwike, but this is the first time I’ve been able to get hold of a big swing band.”

With three lead vocalists, The Little Big Band has been performing since 2007. It plays a variety of styles of music, including songs by the likes of George Gerswhin and Cole Porter; swing music from the 1940s with Glenn Miller and swing classics from the 1950s and 60s, as well as giving 70s blues and soul favourites the big band treatment.

Other acts taking part include Brighouse singer Roger Davies, Emerald City Underground, Twist of Fate and Blind Dead McJones Band and String Villains.

The family-friendly festival, with fairground rides, is on Sunday, May 25 from noon.
