He was named by his former boss as the “greatest Bluesbreaker of them all.”
And when that boss is blues legend John Mayall, that’s quite an accolade.
Buddy Whittington was invited by Mayall to join The Bluesbreakers in 1993 and there followed a series of shows and recordings worldwide until 2008, when the band was reformed.
Buddy’s self-titled solo CD appeared in 2007 and in recent years stepped back into the spotlight, touring Europe as one of the best exponents of Texas blues today.
Buddy’s live shows blend original material, classic blues from the likes of BB and Freddie King and strong song-based material from acts such as Delbert McClinton and Warren Haynes.
Catch Buddy Whittington at Penningtons Octagon, Keighley, on Sunday. For tickets, call (01535) 661936 or 0797 0368458.
