From next Sunday to February 27, Harewood House hosts a fabulous week of family activities to celebrate the great outdoors, and all the activities and events are included in the ticket price.

There will be a vintage fair at the Bronte School Room in Haworth tomorrow, selling vintage fashion, collectables and accessories. Taking place in the Old School Rooms built in 1832 and where Charlotte Bronte taught, the fair runs from 10am to 4pm.

There’s half-term fun for all the family at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Have some beastly fun learning about exotic animals in the Oriental gallery. Find out about tigers and horses, pangolins and dragons plus other weird and wonderful creatures – real and mythical. Go along and celebrate the Chinese ‘Year of the Rabbit’ with craft activities for all ages. Free admission to the museum, although some events may incur a small charge. Beasts runs from next Saturday, until February 27.

Wannabe wizards should head for York from next Saturday to February 27 to take advantage of the National Railway Museum’s celebration of the Hogwarts Express – the steam locomotive from the ever-popular Harry Potter films. During the February half term, fans of the fantasy franchise will be able to enjoy all the magic of the museum’s Wizard Week by taking steam rides behind the famous locomotive, witnessing stunning owls on display and watching mystical free performances by some wizards that you may recognise!

Fallen Fruits and Brand New Shoots at East Riddlesden Hall shows you what effects winter has had on the garden. There’s a free self-led trail looking at how the garden has changed over the winter. At the end of the trail, visit the garden room to discover how the garden looks during summer. Help brighten up East Riddlesden Hall by making a flower to add to the growing collection. The event runs from next Saturday to March 19, from 10.30am to 4pm. There’s also Pirate Fun to be had during the half term holiday, when you can help Captain Blackbeard find the treasure with free pirate trails and activities on offer for the whole family.
