Fancy being a time detective? Well you can at the Archaeology Fun Day, at the Phoenix South-West Building at Bradford University. A mixture of ‘drop in’ activities and taster sessions for all the family, as well as an assortment of workshops including archaeology-inspired art; Kidz Digz; Medical Mystery – discover how disease can be identified from old bones; CSI: South Pennines – help unravel the clues at a crime scene; Rock ‘n’ Roll, when you can find out about the rocks that shaped our landscape, with flint knapping demonstrations, together with local archaeology and history societies marketplace and Meet the Vikings! Have you always wanted to write with a flourish – stylish Italic or stunning Gothic? Jim Winstanley, the widely respected local calligrapher, is starting a new class near Brighouse, on Tuesdays 10am to 1pm. The venue will be Upper Edge Chapel, Dewsbury Road, Rastrick, HD6 3QD. The class is suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced scribes. The course will run from Tuesday for six weeks, initially, and the cost will be £10 per session.
